If you’ve read any of my fall blogs, then you know how much I love spooky season and Halloween! My house quite literally looks like a haunted house, but when it comes to decorating a classroom, I like to keep it spooky, not scary. I also do my best not to over-do it as to not overly distract students.
This blog shares a few of my favorite Halloween classroom decorations that are affordable and easy (yes, affordable AND easy)! I really hope you and your class enjoy them as much as we do!

When I put this bulletin board together, I had a few things in mind: cozy vibes, cute color scheme, functionality, and ease of putting together. I love this bulletin board because it encompasses all of those things and can stay up for the months of October and November. I love cute and fun decorations, but I never like having to re-create bulletin boards every month. This one is a great option for those like me, and who want a display that will last!
2. Spooky Collaborative Classroom Mural Display

Anyone who reads my blogs knows that I am a big advocate of incorporating student work into your classroom decor. Why? Because students simply love to see their work on display, it makes children feel recognized and valued and helps build positive rapport. Let’s be real, around holidays in classrooms a lot of teachers are looking for themed activities to do with their class. Something to keep students focused, engaged, and eliminate that holiday chaos. This activity accomplishes just that – students engage collaboratively with this class poster and build their speaking and listening skills as they work together. Once finished, this class mural serves as a colorful and appropriately spooky classroom or hallway display!
3. Carve a pumpkin with your class!

Okay, obviously don’t let the children use a large knife, BUT hopefully, you get the point! Usually, I would buy a safe pumpkin carving knife and closely help and monitor if a child wanted to try. Not only is carving a large class pumpkin a fun class memory, but it can be the only pumpkin carving experience some children have. I know every year; I had a child who had never carved a pumpkin. This is also a great activity to talk about science and math elements such as part of the pumpkin and observing what the inside of a pumpkin feels like, weight of the pumpkin, measure the pumpkin, etc. Once carved, your classroom Jack-O-Lantern can serve as a fun classroom decoration!
Well, these are my SPOOK-tacular classroom decorating ideas and ones that are tried and true by a real-life teacher!
Enjoy!
Meredith
