Depending on where you are teaching, you could have a couple of months or just a couple of weeks left of school. If you are anything like me towards the end of the school year, you are probably exhausted and ready for a summer reset! Some of you may even be thinking, “how in the world am I supposed to make it through the last few weeks or months of school?!” If you are feeling burnt out and need some tips on how to finish the year strong, read below for my tried-and-true tips for success!

  1. Keep your body moving as well as your students: It is no secret how body movement greatly helps reduce stress, keeps you healthy, and even helps with better sleep. For students, it will also help decrease those end-of-year chaotic behaviors (which in turn, will help you keep your sanity)! Below, I have a few of my favorite end of year activities that help keep teachers and students active while learning! Click on the photo below to learn more. 🙂

2. Keep calm and continue to engage students with meaningful work: It can be easy toward the end of the school year to want to show movies and have tons of extra outdoor play time. There is nothing wrong with doing those things in moderation, but it is important to keep some kind of structure in the school day with activities that occupy body and mind or else your classroom may end up being a hot mess express by the end of the year. The below activity is something my class did every year at the end of the school year. Students stayed super engaged, worked on collaborative skills, and continued to grow their fine motor development. Click on the photo below to learn more. 🙂

3. Read lots of engaging, summer themed read aloud books: As the weather gets warmer and students get excited and amped up for summer, a wonderful way to cool down and calm down in the classroom is to read a book to students. One of my favorite end of year books for students is, “Shark Lady” written by, Jess Keating. This is a true story of Eugene Clark who became an ocean scientist. The students love this book because it is a true story and the visuals are stunning. It is perfectly themed for the end of the school year, fun, engaging, while still educational! Even better, it goes perfectly with the Beach Day Activity Set I also use at the end of every school year!

You are almost there, stay strong!
